When you go to the movies or rent a dvd, you often get the preview for films coming soon, right?
So how about book trailers? Here’s a taste of Word of Honour from Australian writer Michael Pryor’s Laws of Magic series.
Maybe one day (maybe already?) your teacher will let you do your book report as a short video…

Teachers are already getting in on the book trailer action! Last year, when I was teaching Year Four, we read Neil Gaiman’s Coraline, and we storyboarded, filmed, edited and showcased our own version of a Coraline book trailer! It was such a fun learning expereince for all! My students really enjoyed the showing the trailer to the rest of the school, parents and friends, and we even generated some interest in getting people more interested in reading the book, as a year five class had just started reading it too, and were desperate to read the rest after seeng our trailer!!!
